Taxidermy and Miscellania
Pair of Desk Top Tortoises
A delightful pair of desk top Tortoises - the perfect executive accessory. They are actually Box Turtles, which are turtles which live on land. These antique accoutrements are functional as well as ornamental. The first has a loud service bell - just press the top for attention, and the second has a handy receptacle for pins or paper clips, or maybe USB sticks these days. They are a little over 6" long, and in good condition. Such novelty items of taxidermy were popular with the Victorians whose interests often combined the unusual with their fascination with natural history, usually dead.
£250 the pair
Antique Roe Antler Bottle Stop
This is thought to be 100 years old, but I have no documents to support this. A Roe antler with 3 points on a white metal base with a cork. Including the cork it is 6" from top to bottom.
Burberry Bowler or Coke Hat
A black Bowler or Coke hat. It has an internal circumference of 56cm. It is with the original hat box which is lined with newspaper from 1935. It is in very good condition. My flash, and having 4 dogs in the house do not lend themselves to jet black things looking as neat as they should!
A Grey Top Hat
A very elegant grey Top hat. Internal circumference is 56cm. In lovely condition and in its original and proper hat box. Made by Lock and Co of St James, London
A Hunting Top Hat
Another lovely hat in super condition. Again a 56cm internal circumference. This was made by the famous makers Christies and comes in the original box.
Vintage Brass Fishing Reels
A collection of four brass vintage fishing reels. The smallest is 1 3/4" in diameter, and the largest is 2 1/2". The second largest is missing it's handle.
